From the small town of Cape May, New Jersey, Justin Steere’s songwriting spans many different styles. Every song he writes is unique and he changes his vocal style to match the song. Justin first became involved in music at the age of 12 when he watched his friend's band play in a coffee shop, after which he decided to take guitar lessons. Those lessons eventually led Justin to develop an interest in many kinds of instruments, for which he gained a bit of knowledge in each. The first time he sang in front of an audience was at his high school talent show, where he performed John Mayer's hit single "No Such Thing." As he continued to sing, his vocal tone changed and he found his natural voice at a higher range. He started performing in clubs right out of high school and was told by many locals and that he sounded like the songwriter Jason Mraz. Like Mraz, most of the songs Justin performed were upbeat jazz numbers with a hip hop vocal influence.
Justin attended the number one rated music school in the U.S., Berklee College of Music, as a vocalist with a major in songwriting. Berklee has also schooled musicians such as John Mayer and Maroon 5. He placed second in the New Jersey Icon contest held in Cape May County and still plays local shows today. His lyrics are based on things that everyone can relate to and he knows how to use his words to strike emotion into any situation; each of his songs tells a story. His music is new and refreshing and something to keep an eye out for.
